Application of the principles of statics and mechanics of materials to the design of machine elements. Topics include stress and deformation, finite element method, failure criteria in yielding, fatigue and buckling, statistical considerations, and selection of shafts, bearings, and gears.
Prerequisite: EGR 206 , EGR 331 , and EGR 335
