MAT 321 - Abstract Algebra I


Credit Hours: 3

Focuses mainly on the theory of groups, looking at various classes of groups (finite, cyclic, permutation, Abelian, etc). Examines subgroups, direct products, factor groups, and homomorphisms. Applications will arise in number theory, cryptography, symmetry, algebraic geometry, crystallography, solving Rubik’s Cubes, and more.

Prerequisite: MAT 201  and MAT 232
