THE 318 - Christian Origins: Heretics and Saints Credit Hours: 3
Explores seminal contributions of Christian theologians of the first five centuries of the church. Emphasizes patristic biblical interpretation through study of select writings pivotal for doctrinal formulation in the areas of Christology, Trinitarian theology, ecclesiology, and soteriology. Critically examines various exemplars (such as Irenaeus and Augustine) in light of contemporary ecclesial and cultural contexts and concerns.
Prerequisite: PHI 200 and THE 206
