SWK 281 - Introduction to Social Work Credit Hours: 3
Introduces the student to the Social Work profession. Explores various practice settings, the history of social work, and purpose and values that guide social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities to promote social and environmental justice and social welfare. Rooted in Christian values of compassion, justice and service, this course emphasizes a commitment to all areas of social work practice with an anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion (ADEI) lens. Students are encouraged to access their potential as a social worker. C+ or better for social work majors.
