CNS 604 - Theories of Counseling


Credit Hours: 4

Students will begin to develop a professional identity as a counselor by obtaining an overview of the history of the profession, current roles, functions, and practices of the counselor, basics of entry into the profession, and skills necessary to advocate for diverse clients. The course will detail the rationale, background, and research that underlie selected theories of counseling, with emphasis on the implications of each theory for practice. Students will develop a theoretical basis for their own counseling practice.
