Course Substitutions and Transfer Courses

Students may petition the Office of Registration and Records for course equivalencies or substitutions for any courses except for COR 200  or COR 320 . A petition does not guarantee approval. Transfer courses will be evaluated using only official transcripts from the transferring institution.

Associate of Arts Graduation Requirements

  • Students must complete at least 30 credit hours and at least 10 of the last 20 credit hours at SAU.
  • Students must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at SAU in order to graduate with an A.S. degree.
  • Students must complete 60 credit hours and all course requirements specified in the degree program.

Continuing to a Bachelor’s Degree

The A.S. degree may not be earned concurrently with a bachelor’s degree, and the courses taken in the A.S. degree program may or may not apply to a specific SAU bachelor’s degree. Students who eventually plan to continue on to bachelor’s degree program at SAU should pay careful attention to prerequisite and required courses in the bachelor’s degree program they hope to pursue to prevent taking unnecessary courses.

Students who complete an associate’s degree at SAU must reapply to SAU to pursue at bachelor’s degree. Admission to a bachelor’s program at SAU is not automatic.
