MUS 356 - Secondary and Marching Band Methods


Credit Hours: 3

Procedures for teaching vocal and instrumental music in the secondary school, as well as philosophy and principles of secondary school music curriculum design. Emphasis on organization, administration, and pedagogy for ensemble instruction. Includes 20 hours of clinical and field experience. Specialized study of the techniques and skills associated with the preparation and management of marching bands, including organization, show design, music arranging, teaching of marching fundamentals, and rehearsal of marching routines and show music.

Prerequisite: SOE admission and C or better in EDU 202 , and EDU 230  or ECE 266  and EDU 267  
Additional Requirements:
Includes 20 hours of clinical and field experience.
