EDU 230 - Educational Psychology


Credit Hours: 3

Combines the science of Psychology, neuroscience, and child development, with theories of teaching and learning, thinking, and intelligence. Psychological principles for PK-12 teaching and learning from the American Psychological Association (APA) are addressed to provide guidance for PK-12 teacher candidates in understanding and application of psychological knowledge to the teaching-learning process. Michigan’s Core Teaching Practices and the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (MI-InTASC) standards are introduced. Lesson planning and integration of teaching, assessment, and technology strategies are applied. “C” or better required. This course meets the SAU Social Science requirement.

Prerequisite: B- or better in EDU 140
